Eligibility

B.Ed programme is offered under various optional subjects and candidates seeking admission must fulfill the relevant eligibility criteria i.e. 10+2 HSC examination/ graduate degree/ postgraduate degree.

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to B.Ed. programme (in Government /Government Aided/Self-Financing Colleges of Education) leading to the Degree of Bachelor of ducation (B.Ed.) provided fulfilling the prescribed education qualification and other requirements as specified in the B.Ed. Admission Guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu in force from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria : B.Ed. programme

Eligibility:
  • For Subjects 1-10: Candidate should have passed the 10+2 qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized board of Education / Examination
  • For Subjects 1-10: Candidates who have passed UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any of the subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/ Higher Secondary Education level are eligible for admission
  • For Subjects 1-10: Candidates should have scored the following minimum aggregate of marks in order to be eligible for admission to B.Ed. programme:

If the candidate possesses UG as well as PG degree in the same subject, the marks obtained in the UG Degree alone shall be considered for eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

A candidate shall be eligible for admission in the B.Ed Programme provided they fulfill the prescribed
educational qualification and other requirements as specified in the B.Ed admission guidelines of the
Government of Tamil Nadu in force from time to time.

The requisite qualifications for admission to these subjects are:

    1. UG Degree in the relevant subject with not less than the percentage of marks stipulated as follows:

      OC 50%
      BC / BC (M) 45%
      MBC / DNC 43%
      SC / SCA / ST 40%

    2. B.E/B.Tech candidates irrespective of their subject with fifty five percent (55%) of marks are eligible.

    3. The Candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of Education/Examination and UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized universities.

    4. The three year Diploma in Engineering shall be treated as equivalent to + 2 course for the purpose of eligibility for admission.

    5. Candidates who have passed BE with not less than 3years of duration under lateral entry are also eligible for admission.

    6. Candidates who have taken more than one major subject in part III (Major and ancillary) (Under Double/Triple Major system) of UG Degree course have to choose only one of the major subjects and should have applied for that major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks.

    7. Candidates who have qualified in the P.G.Degree (5 Year Integrated Programme) under 10+2+5 pattern of study shall be considered for admission in such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the first three years in part III (Major and Ancillary) alone shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed Degree Programme.

    8. Candidates, who have passed the UG or PG degree under Open University system without 10+2 pattern of School Education Examination are not eligible for admission.

    9. Candidates, who have passed any degree under Additional Degree Programme or lateral entry mode with less than three years of duration are not eligible for admission.

    10. Candidates, who have passed under four year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects under part III are not eligible for admissionEquivalent Subjects

Equivalent Subjects

a) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for Mathematics.

b) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in applied Theoretical Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics, and Electronics can apply for Physical Science.

c) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Chemistry can apply for Physical Science.

d) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Advanced Zoology and Bio-Technology, Plant Biology and Plant Bio Technology can apply for Biological Science.

e) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Environmental Science and Microbiology can apply for Biological Science.

f) Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Application can apply for Computer Science.

h) Equivalency certificates issued by the recognized university may be considered.
